Moving in with roommates, need help with internet privacy?
Posted by admin in Internet Privacy on July 23rd, 2009
I know there are tech savvy people out there who can break into computers, especially if they’re living with you and have the same internet connection. So how can I make sure no one’s spying on my internet activity or going through my folders? My laptop is password protected, but if we’re using the same wireless connection, can’t someone use a program or other means to tap into my computer and see the screen/keystrokes? I’m looking for advice on keeping things private. Thanks.

How does everyone feel about using Internet privacy software to hide and browse the internet?

What expectations for the Internet privacy differ from accessing the Web at home, at work, or in a public set?

The last part is setting, ran out of room to put it. The public setting would be like a library lab or the Wi-Fi zone.

Is the internet a privacy nightmare for the younger generation?
Posted by admin in Internet Privacy on July 6th, 2009
Many people started using the internet as adults and were aware that they had to be extremely careful about using your real name and other privacy related things.. but many of us under 20 have been raised on the internet and often felt anonymous when using our first name, or did not know that things we’ve posted would forever be linked to our IP addresses.. do you think that this will prove to be a privacy nightmare in the future? A lot of kids use sites such as Yahoo Answers to get help with very personal problems too

Are there better ways to protect my Internet Privacy?

Don’t really feel that secure with Vista since it seems to always go back to Microsoft for everything & virus updates are hard to get.

Posted by admin in Internet Privacy on July 2nd, 2009
Should children be allowed to surf the internet without parental controls, spyware programs such as net nanny, and be granted personal e-mail accounts? Why the need for Internet privacy laws on personal information?
Posted by admin in Internet Privacy on June 26th, 2009
I am writing a research paper on stronger laws for use of personal information on the Internet, but haven't been able to find much information. If anyone could give me a site that might prove to be helpful, please do so. Of course, please answer my question, too.

What is the best web browser or software for Internet privacy?
Posted by admin in Internet Privacy on June 22nd, 2009
I'm concerned about other people logging on to my computer (friends, family members, etc.) who may come across my web surfing history. I tend to always clear my history to prevent this but I was wondering if there was something more effective and quicker out there that may help me maintain my privacy. Also, can someone actually obtain my IP address if I have a firewall? What's a good firewall?

Internet & Privacy?
Posted by admin in Internet Privacy on June 14th, 2009
Everyday more people turn to the internet as a convenient means of gathering information, but recently government agencies and large corporations have taken it upon themselves to infringe on the privacy of everyday internet users. Can any of you elaborate on the infrigement that is done by government and corporations that has affected you? Such as spam, identiy theft. How do you feel about cookies being stores about your web habits? Any info relating to this matter would be appreciated.
Before answering my question, take a look at google vs department of justice articles on the web to see how the government is playing a role in user privacy.

Ethical Issues of Internet Privacy
Here are a few important tips and tricks from the Sovereign Life Review on how to protect necessary personal and related business email from prying eyes. Some of these services should be marketed more main stream, simply because there is a need and they work great. You can even recall your email, or make it disappear. Privacy issues are exactly that, a private matter for freedom seekers.
You can use these type of services and make it a habit, or reserve them for just the sensitive communications that need to be private. This email service is called BigString Dot Com, and is a valuable resource for privacy advocates and Sovereign Individuals alike.

BigString is the web-based email service that allows the sender full control of email tracking with an online user interface. Still be wary of keylogging devices when used on a public computer.
Recall your emails after they are sent with pre-saved settings, or erase email all together after a predetermined time. You can also time-stamp your outbound email to self-destruct and disallow it from being forwarded on to others after it has been sent.
Other siimilar services for privacy and anonymity worth a mention are anonymousspeech.com and willselfdestruct.com. Sooner or later you may find these kinds of services very necessary for certain aspects of working towards creating virtual oline income and maintaing a level of privacy.
